The Suicide Kings: Generation suicide
06/01/14 || Cobal
These Germans claim to play a ala-Suicidal-Tendencies form of crossover thrash. I don’t know about reviving that particular vibe, but hell, sure there’s both metal and punk involved. So, either if you’re more into metal melodies and riffs, or into the toopa-toopa thing, you’ll be getting a significant dose of each. Probably not a sufficient one, probably the exact one, I leave such considerations to you. Me, I did enjoy both flavors here, except I did miss something: I wish they had gone a bit more aggressive at times. Trust me when I tell you that there are a few songs that could have naturally evolved into a blast beats grindcorish storm or something. Instead, these guys seem to pay more attention to the mild tracks, up to the point of resembling “Americana” at moments. Don’t you play trve on me now, you know that record.
As for the vocals, I found most appropriate that a German singer is literally spitting punk shouted lyrics in English. His native intonation adds up for feeling, that’s for sure. Anyway, I suppose that if crossover is your thong — no typo here, there’s no waste in this.
6/10: Impossible to give a failing grade to something that produces so much headbanging.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
